How You Can Copy A Trillion Dollar CEO

Saw a video from Apple CEO Tim Cook yesterday.

A walkthrough of his daily routine as someone managing a trillion dollar company.

Very interesting ritual to start his day:

“I get up really early, 4am-5am, and spend my first hour reading emails from a lot of customers and employees. It’s a way to stay grounded in terms of what the community is feeling.”

As someone managing the third biggest company in the world, Tim Cook still keeps his finger on the pulse of the market every single day.

This speaks volumes to the importance of market research.

In business, the easiest way to win isn’t through new trends, tactics or shiny objects.

It’s by simply listening to what your market is saying.

What pain are they feeling?

What solutions do they crave?

How do they feel about X?

What are they saying about Y?

There is no marketing or business “technique” better than this.

Just start by listening to your market, and making sure you never fall out of touch with them.

A good way to do this is to kick off your day the way Tim Cook does.

Read and listen to what your customers (and potential customers) have to say.

Could be through emails, Facebook comments, forums, reviews and more.

Do this, and you’ll never be out of the loop.
